Big K.R.I.T. Learned From Texas Zip

Better late than never. After Big K.R.I.T. fans thought it was a drought, it would appear it’s time to eat. The 4Eva Is A Mighty Long Time lyricist has been notably absent for the bulk of 2018, and in fairness, a little time off should be expected following a god damn double album. Yet K.R.I.T has never been one to turn his back on the game, especially as he’s in the middle of a creative renaissance. Now, following his recent EP Thrice X, the rapper has returned with a new back-to-back, which includes the Southern-inspired banger “Learned From Texas.”

Off the bat, K.R.I.T’s vision is realized through the tried and true marriage between bouncing bassline and chopped-n-screwed vocals. Throw in a UGK reference, and the immersion is complete. The unsung hero proves his versatility by paying homage to those who came before him, proving that he’s as worthy as a pupil as he is a professor. “Popping up twice, trunk shaking like a fifth full of dice, rich gang like a cooler of ice,” raps K.R.I.T, allowing himself some much-deserved room to flex. “Chandelier-like who need some light?”

Quotable Lyrics

Popping up twice, trunk shaking like a fifth full of dice
Rich gang like a cooler of ice
Chandelier-like who need some light?
UFOs like who need a ride
